The Writing Kit

This term Room 4 have been participating in the GET NEW ZEALAND WRITING CLASSROOM EXCHANGE through Warehouse stationery. We were paired up with a class who were the same year level as us but were different to us in some way. This means they might have a bigger or smaller school role, they might be a country or city school they might even have 3 teachers instead of 1.
Our big question during this exchange was- CAN WE CREATE A WORD WINDOW ABOUT WHERE WE LIVE TO SHARE WITH ANOTHER CLASS?
From Warehouse stationary, we received 32 postcards to write a metaphor about ourselves and a class information poster to fill in. We also had to colour in the backs of our postcards because when they were correctly put together they created a poster with a message.

This is our class information sheet and the backs of our postcards when they were put together.

On the other side of the postcards, we wrote our metaphor about ourselves. This is what they turned out like!

Tuakana-teina

Today was our 2nd scheduled tuakana-teina sessions with our buddy class, Room 7! We gathered in Room 7 and talked about different ways to greet each other in Maori and other languages from around the world. Room 7 then shared with us their poem (The Maori colour's song) and we sang along with them.

Room 4 then took their younger buddy outside to teach them a sports skill they knew. Our skill set ranged from roly-polies and cartwheels, shooting hoops, making a good tackle with the tackling bag and lots more! (we're a very talented bunch)

Heres some photos from our sports skills session this afternoon.
